Communication

        Two thousand miles away
you asked me at the telephone
        "How are you?"

I didn't know what to answer
so I kept silent - hearing your voice
        couldn't say: Oh great - I'm fine

To fulfill my urge to communicate
        with a like-minded being
        this wouldn't have been enough

        Thanks for complaining
        to my silence - insisting
so I could explain my attitude

        Your voice changed
        coming nearer to me
        listening - understanding

        Two thousand miles of distance
falling together into space less space
        bridged two points in universe
